Our Story

My wife is in our local MOMS Club. She LOVES it! Over a year ago, she volunteered to be the Newsletter Editor. At the time, the newsletter was paper based. It was expensive to produce. It took lots of time. And, since it used lots of paper it was not a very environmentally friendly way to communicate. Then, the chapter voted to do an "online" newsletter. So, she put me to work. Over the next few months, I built a working website that allowed the chapter to have an online newsletter. Which was great, because the club now saved all of that printing and postage.

Then, my wife asked about doing an online calendar as part of the newsletter, and again, put me to work. We got the interactive calendar working, and looking good. Then, she asked if it would be possible to enable members to "sign up" for each event, so that the coordinators would know who was going to show up. I went to work right away. I also did one better, I had the system automatically send out email reminders the day before each event so that the coordinators would no longer need to send reminders. And, on and on we went like this, for about a year. Until, now we have a pretty cool website engine, built all around a MOMS Club chapter.

There are lots of really cool features that enable a chapter to work more efficiently, collaborate online, and connect as a group in the site. Sharing photos and stories. I even saw a forum post called "Romancing your husband", but decided not to pry.

Seeing the benefit it brought to her chapter I decided to offer this website to any MOMS Club chapter that wants it, and only charge for our web hosting fees. Plus, many chapters want their own domain name and so we'll register that as well at no additional charge. Since the chapter boards turns over year after year, we'll renew your domain name every year for you automatically, so that no one in your chapter needs to monitor it. The site also enables users to blast email messages to all member or just selected groups (eg - Coordinators). This creates a secure way to send email, and ensures that only registered users can send email to the group (no spam).

When we were originally thinking about offering this website to all MOMS Club chapters, rather than charge a monthly subscription fee we considered giving it away for free. However, creating a free website service on that scale would mean that we'd need to have advertising in the sites to cover our server costs. But we don't care much for ad-sponsored sites. We prefer subscription based sites so that the users cover the server expenses and maintain a clean, ad-free website experience.

My wife's chapter has over 1,500 unique pages within their private site, every page of which was created by the members. I really tried to make adding pages, and maintaining content very easy. And it is! It is all performed through a web browser, and no special software is necessary. In fact, I had the site automatically reduce photos down to a reasonable file size dynamically during upload. Which is very cool since it saves disk space and makes the pictures load faster in the site.

Well, if you want to chat more about it, please call me (Jeff) at Click Consulting at 562-430-5716 x101, and I'd be happy to provide a demo or answer any questions. MOMS Club is a wonderful organization, and has given my wife so much. I am happy to be able to give back to this community in my own small way.
